Homemade Masks and Scrubs

GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT COCOA MASK

Is your skin in need of some serious self-care? I know mine does! After the holidays and especially with this colder weather. My skin sure takes a beating.

OH HONEY! MASK

I stumbled upon this first mask because I ran out of my usual exfoliator. I had seen some DIY scrubs on Pinterest before so I thought why not, I have all the ingredients. So I mixed up baking soda, honey and lemon juice and slathered it all over my face. Let it sit for about 15 minutes. Hopped in the shower and began to rinse off. What I didn’t know about baking soda is that it has a bit of grit to it. I mean who knew?! Only have I used it to bake with! My skin felt SO soft. I was totally hooked! This has become part of my weekly routine and I have seen some really great results. I have even noticed my my dark spots have faded a bit.

DIRECTIONS:
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1-4 teaspoons baking soda (add more/less to get to desired paste consistency)

Apply to dry skin. Let sit for 15 minutes. Wet both palms of hands. Place on face to moisten the mask. Then gently move in a circular motion to exfoliate. Rinse well. Don’t forget to moisturize after!

GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT COCOA MASK

Now I can’t take credit for this next one. My sister sent this to me one morning. I was feeling bleh and unmotivated. She said try this mask you’ll love it! The girl knows me well. It’s a delicious mix of sour cream, cocoa powder, egg white and honey. IT SMELLS AMAZING! My dog was even trying to lick my face. My first time mixing this up I just scooped about a large spoon full of each which made quiet a bit. But ended up working out great, I stored the rest in the fridge and had a already made mask for the rest of the week. My skin felt very hydrated and smooth. A sweet treat for your skin.

DIRECTIONS:
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon sour cream
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
1 egg white

Mix all ingredients together. The egg white makes it a little tricky so make sure you get it all mixed really well. Apply to dry skin. It feels VERY cold and refreshing. Leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse and you are done! Your skin will thank you!

THE CAFFEINATED SUGAR SCRUB

Last but not least. I really feel like this is the perfect balance between grit and hydration. The coffee grinds and sugar exfoliate all those yucky dead skins cells away and the oil olive swoops in with a creamy hydration. I love the way my skin feels and looks after this scrub. Truly wakes your skin up with the caffeine from the coffee. Make sure your skin is wet before applying. It can get a little messy!

DIRECTIONS:
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 teaspoon coffee grinds
1 teaspoon sugar

Mix all ingredients together. Wet face. Gently press mixture onto skin. It can be a little flaky and messy. Leave on for 15 minutes. Wet both palms of hands. Place on face to moisten the mask. Then gently move in a circular motion to exfoliate. Rinse well.
