Advent Calendar

This is my very first year to introduce the Advent Calendar to my family and I am very excited! I’ve pondered what I would fill it with. Of course Jesus being the main focus but also I wanted it to fun and educational and something everyone looks forward to each day. So this is my Advent Calendar, it really gets the whole family together.

My son was gifted The Jesus Storybook Bible by his Mimi. We love this Bible! It’s perfect for kids. So during my search I stumbled upon an Advent Guide that corresponds to The Jesus Storybook Bible. It gives step-by-step instructions. You simply download the PDF, print the pictures with the matching scripture and cut!

Now you can still use the guide even if you don’t have the storybook. You can look at the beautifully done pictures and read the scriptures from your own Bible. I decided to kick it up a notch and add a “bonus” treat to a few of the days, every other to be exact. I wanted my kiddos to get REALLY excited about each day. Not saying the story of Jesus isn’t enough but I have a 6 and a 4 year old. Incentives help! I added some fun “extra 30 minutes of screen time” and “hot cocoa night” stuff like that. I think they are really going to love it.

I printed and cut each picture, scripture card and bonus card. I used a hole punch and tied them together with some cute ribbon. Now you don’t have to do that. You could just place them in each bag, basket, or holder you are using for your calendar. Even staple or paper clip!

And instead of all candy…which most of it is! I added other goodies like mini ornaments for their trees, rolled up dollar bills (they will think they are rich), pencils, stickers, chapstick…basically anything from the dollar section!

So needless to say I am very excited about December 1st! I’ve included the PDF of the Advent Guide and the fun “bonus” cards for you to download. Some blank cards are included so you can personalize to fit your family. I hope you and your family have the best time with your Advent Calendar. Merry Christmas!
