The Butterfly Room Reveal

Some of my fondest memories are of my Mom and me decorating my room. So this collaboration is like a dream come true for me. Usually I come up with an idea and design and the kids just kind of agree and roll with it. However, my beautiful daughter is now a big girl with lots of opinions and great ideas. This room makeover was so fun and turned out so good. Every time I walk into Lillian’s room it looks and feels just like her.

It started with her dresser breaking. This was the first dresser we bought after we got married. So that baby has been around for a minute. It has survived countless moves and it just couldn’t make it another day!

We went back and forth whether to just replace the dresser or just give her room an upgrade. After some fun brainstorming the butterfly vision came about and it was a no brainer. So now the fun begins…

I immediately started researching. I love the process of design! It starts with one item, one “inspiration” piece and then takes off. The finished product is so rewarding. Seeing my daughters face light up with excitement and happiness, it makes me the happiest Mama in the world!

Alright these fun, 3-D Colorful Crystal Butterfly Wall Stickers were the inspiration starter. Each pack has 36 pieces – I ordered two packs. So once her room was stripped down completely, it was time to rebuild. I started with these beautiful butterflies. Similar to a puzzle. Took me a few days and it was worth every small adhesive sticker! πŸ˜‰

I ended up adding these white paper butterflies at the end. Felt like it needed a touch more drama. I found a template online, printed and cut on card stock paper.

Her bedding came next. It took me a couple rounds of choices. I felt like this one really worked well with the wall color and matched the butterflies perfectly. Plus, I really love the look of a quilt. Adds a bit of a vintage vibe.

I’m OBSESSED with this dust ruffle. It is the perfect shade of pink. It’s super soft and oh so flowy!

I spotted these adorable Butterfly Wall Lights in the IKEA catalog. I mean could they be any more perfect?! The color is so pretty and how it contrasts the rest of the room. They are so fun and cozy when they are turned on. Lillian LOVES them!

We added these cute horizontal wall hooks for all her girly things. I mean Elsa needs somewhere to hang her gown!

Her Dad built her “headboard” and side shelves. I didn’t want a traditional headboard and I knew I wanted to flank the lights on the sides. It took a little brainstorming and lots of measuring but I really like the way it turned out. It was made just for her!

And there you have it! The big girl butterfly room! It screams Lillian Rose. She bleeds pink and all things girly. This sweet soul is so precious and brave. She is my best friend for life. How did I get so lucky?!

Happy decorating!
