There is nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than cold juicy watermelon. It is so fresh, sweet and hydrating…bonus! My kiddos and family absolutely love it. Watermelon also reminds me of my childhood, my mom and grandma would cut giant round slices that would take up your whole plate. We would gobble it up with a spoon! I recently ordered a watermelon from Walmart Grocery Pickup. I’m pretty sure it was a least 10 lbs! So it got the ole wheels turning. I had to find a way to use the beast of a watermelon. And here’s what I came up with! SWEET PINEAPPLE WATERMELON POPSICLES So for several days I kept finding popsicle molds everywhere. My kids filled them with water and put in the fridge. I found some just laying around. I don’t know if it was subliminal advertising but it worked!! These definitely took a couple rounds to get the right flavor and sweetness. My taste testers did not mind one bit. To start, slice your watermelon into chunks. You can use a blender or a food processor. Blend it up until you have a smooth puree. My first round I used a food processor […]

Outdoor Tablescape: For Any Occasion!
Disclaimer: This post includes affiliate links, and I will earn a commission if you purchase through these links. Please note that I’ve linked to these products purely because I recommend them and they are from companies I trust. There is no additional cost to you. Well hello June! Whattttt?! I don’t even know how that’s possible! This is a very fun time of the year. With graduations, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, kickoff of summer…so many party opportunities! Today I am sharing a fun summertime tablescape that would work for ANY occasion! When I think of summer my minds goes to palms, lemons, anything pink, rattan, margaritas and the great outdoors! So that was my inspiration for this outdoor tablescape. Again I will encourage you to use what you have. Think of what your summer looks like and I bet you’ve got some great items already at home. For me it started with this fun palm leaf table runner. I picked it up at Target a few years back but here is a similar one. It’s so festive and and screams outdoor party! Then just start by layering your table. I pulled in this DIY pedestal from my kitchen dining area. […]
May Must-Haves: From Head to Toe.
We are on the cusp of summer over here. My kiddos have a few days of school left and then it’s break time baby! Here in North Texas it gets pretty pippin’ hot so all these May Must-Haves are about to come in real handy. COVER THAT HEAD!When I was younger I was a sun worshiper. I loved to lay out and get tan. No sunscreen, no protection at all. Tiny bikini and that’s it! These days it’s more like a moo moo, large hat, sunglasses and sunscreen on reapply every 30 minutes! An easy and very fashionable way to get protection from the sun is by wearing a hat. I wear one every time I am out in the sun for a period time. From walks, gardening and the pool. I recently ordered this sun hat from Amazon. It’s SO cute and provides great coverage. It’s a straw material. Soft, comfortable and breathable to wear. Comes in a large selection of colors. Perfect for the pool or evening out. The quality and color (02-Brown) is lovely. It has an adjustable strap on the inside of the rim, so if you are one with a tiny head you can still […]
Summertime Sweet Treats: Strawberry Surprise and Easy Key Lime Pie
Can you all believe it’s mid May?! Summer is knocking already! I do not know if I am prepared for the heat. But my belly is prepared for these yummy treats. As much as I love a pecan pie it’s too hot for all that. These two summertime sweet treats are light and fresh and hit the spot. Perfect for summer BBQ’s by the pool, family gatherings or the just the weekend. These are definitely make ahead of time and sit in the fridge treats. Both get better each day. STRAWBERRY SURPRISE I started making this dessert years ago. I would make it for my husbands co-workers. That’s where the name came from. It was a “hey is your wife going to make us that strawberry surprise dessert?” and we’ve called it that ever since. Let’s get started by cutting your pound cake in thin slices. Your goal is to have enough for two layers. Then set aside. Grab your strawberries and give them a good wash. Remove the stems or their “hair” as my daughter says. I like to cut them in half and then thinly slice. Alright now moving on to your wet ingredients. Aka the really yummy […]
My DIY Faux Real Ficus Tree
This project took a bit of time. Not because it was hard but because I had a hard time finding supplies. I originally wanted to do an olive tree. But I could not find branches to save my life. I had my heart set on these olive branches from Walmart but were sold out every time I went in and they are not available online. So I had to rethink my tree. In the meantime I had my hubs cut me down some large branches that I would use as the base of the tree. Originally I had planned on making two trees to flank my hutch in my sitting room. However, after getting the large branches into the room it seemed a bit much. So after scouring the internet for branches I stumbled upon a DIY ficus tree. It was by far the best one I had seen. Except her process was insane! There was NO way I was going to paint each leaf! I ended up going with some beautiful ficus branches from Michael’s. Really pretty color and size and they were $1.99 with I believe it was 20% off. Win win!! Now I finally have all my […]
Mother’s Day Tablescape: Using What You Have
Mother’s Day is right around the corner. We all have one, know one, or are one! So let’s make sure we make them feel extra special. One way is a beautiful table. You do not have to get all fancy and spend a ton of money. In fact, this version I created cost me nada! Not a penny! USE WHAT YOU HAVE! I see so many bloggers with these massive, and also stunning tablescapes that you know cost a fortune. Plus, where do you store it all?! I will say I have a “healthy” amount of inventory that I have collected over the years. Which is probably not the norm BUT I am here to show you how to create something beautiful and a sure way to make Mom feel special. I decided to create an outdoor tablescape. I know a lot of people are still dealing with Covid and social distancing so this makes the most sense. However, you can create the same look and feel indoors. So for this particular setting I used myself as the Mom! 😉 I decide to look around my yard and inside my home for inspiration. Recently, I freshened up my decor with […]
My Appendectomy Story
For most of us 2020 was a real doozy of a year. So many things happened or should I say didn’t happen. For the first time in my life I really struggled with my health. I have always had a bit of a wonky tummy so in the beginning of this journey I didn’t think too much about it. I remember it was the first weekend we had been out of the house since quarantine started in March. It was May and my kiddos last day of school. My amazing Mom had a graduation for them in her backyard. Along with their cousins and “teachers” AKA my sister and me! We got awards, flowers and crowns. All together we did it! Survived the first round of home school. The next day we went out to lunch, first time out and about. It was truly great! I also had my very first hair appointment. Keep in mind I am blonde. NOT the best year to be a blonde! Let’s just say I took the ombré look to a whole new level! My appointment was on that Sunday. I was SOOO excited, literally counting down the seconds. Well I woke that morning […]
Cream Cheese and Herb Scallop Potatoes
OK so you probably have seen me post and talk about these potatoes on my IG account. I promised the recipe and here it is! These cream cheese and herb scallop potatoes are my favorite side dish when I making a meat as the main course. They go amazing with pork loin, ham and ribs. But honestly anything! Those are just my family favorites. I first made these for Christmas. They have now become a tradition to our meal. The cream cheese and the mix of the sage and rosemary make this dish so incredibly rich and delicious. So I like to start melting my butter in my pan. While it’s melting I chop up my onion and add it to the butter. I sprinkle with salt and pepper and let saute for a few minutes. Then I add my minced garlic. Stir it up and let cook just briefly. Now it’s time for the yummy part. Add in your cream cheese and milk. It will take a little bit to get it all melted. You can use a whisk to break part the cream cheese and get it mixed and melted really well. In the meantime, start slicing your […]
Simple and Cheap Home Projects
Got an itch for a new project? I feel like I do most of the time. And most of the time they require my husbands assistance. He’s a very patient and understanding man! 😉 Over the years these really simple and cheap home projects have become my favorites and have made one of the biggest impacts on my home. And when I say cheap, I mean CHEAP! HANGING BASKETS I am a sucker for baskets, whether they are displayed as wall art, hanging as lights or full of muffins! I love the natural color and texture. They go with every aesthetic and add a warm cozy vibe. A few years ago we redid our backyard and I got a “vision” of what I wanted. I became obsessed with hanging baskets. I searched and searched and searched for ideas and inspirations. Well thank you Pinterest for giving me lots of ideas! I mean, honestly what would we do without it?! So I was on a mission to find baskets. One lovely day I came across some bushel baskets on Facebook garage sale. They were legit 20 bucks. See I said cheap! I knew I wanted to paint them black and white. […]
