Keeping It Simple Chicken Tortilla Soup

This page may contain affiliate links, see full disclosure here. As we transition into fall and cooler temps, it’s a perfect time to introduce soups back into dinner rotation. One of my family favorites is Chicken Tortilla Soup. It’s got a good balance between warm and hearty and fresh and light. Just the right soup to start fall with. There are all different ways to make this Chicken Tortilla Soup. But I have found I like this soup with just very simple ingredients. Then jazz it up with yummy fresh toppings. Tortilla chips, cheddar cheese, avocado, sour cream, sliced jalapenos, sour cream! Anything goes! So for the main ingredient – chicken! Not all is created equal. I feel like there are definitely some things you can buy generic, for me chicken is not one. Crowd Cow is my go-to for meat. Their chicken is pasture-raised and organic free range chicken. And what that translates to is top quality. I don’t have to worry about feeding my family hormones or some weird by product “chicken”. And for the about the same price as the grocery store it’s a no brainer! This is the easiest soup! I lay my chicken pieces on […]

Harvest Fall Tablescape with Apples, Corn and White Pumpkins

This page may contain affiliate links, see full disclosure here. Hello my friends, I hope this week is treating you well. I have been trying to get in the fall spirit but these temps have been killing me! Most days I literally refuse to go outside. However, we did see a break and I was able to pull a bit of inspo and it came from my Ginger Apple Vodka Martini. I am not quite ready for the traditional fall leaves and pumpkins but I’m ready for something! And I keep going back to apples. I have never used them for decoration, only eatin’ and and in this case drinkin’! 😉 This pretty is where it all begun. This cocktail truly depicts falls. The color, the ingredients, and of course the taste! So I thought let me create a warm, welcoming Harvest Fall Tablescape with Apples, Corn and White Pumpkins. Many years back I was obsessed with corn husks for fall! I had it in my head to create this unbelievable, gorgeous corn husk wreath. Raise your hand if you think that ever happened?! Like my dream is to be crafty but it ain’t happening! Long story, dream wreath crushed […]

Easy DIY Blanket Ladder: Function & Beauty

This page may contain affiliate links, see full disclosure here. Howdy my friends! Today I am sharing an affordable way to build an Easy DIY Blanket Ladder. I have wanted a blanket ladder for sometime now. But I just didn’t really want to spend the money and couldn’t find one that I really loved. So in usual manner I hit the research for the DIY route. My husband usually cringes when I say “DIY” – cause it always requires some help. He builds it, I make it pretty! Perfect partnership! 😉 I love that blanket ladders come in every design style – from farmhouse, metal, modern, even brass! And talk about versatile! You can use them strictly for decor but also work for actual blanket storage. I also seen them used in bathrooms. I am dying to make a smaller version for my kiddos bathroom. Maybe it will encourage them to actually pick up their towels off the floor. Ok so let’s get to it… HOW TO BUILD A BLANKET LADDER Alright, so by now you should have already found some inspo ladders. Pinterest is my best friend for inspiration. They’ve got it all! Next determine what size you want […]

Easy Grilled Chicken and Sausage Kabobs

This page may contain affiliate links, see full disclosure here. While school has started and a new season is upon us, here in North Texas our temps still scream summer! We are not quite ready to give up summer grillin’ just yet. In my last Crowd Cow order I got chicken tenders and these yummy sausage links. I personally prefer chicken tenders to chicken breasts. They are so much easier to prepare and cook time is way less. And they are perfect for kabobs, you don’t even have to cut them. For these particular Easy Grilled Chicken and Sausage Kabobs I used purple onion, yellow and red bell peppers. I find the yellow and red peppers are much sweeter. And I like how pretty all the colors are. I rough chop them about an inch in size. I season the veggies before I put them on the skewers. Just olive oil, salt and pepper. For the sausage I used Mild Pork Italian Sausage Links. The flavor goes perfectly with the onion and peppers. I didn’t add any additional seasoning to these, simply just cut into one inch pieces. Then I just alternate the sausage, onion and peppers to create these […]

Who is Home of the Roses? Meet my Inspiration.

This page may contain affiliate links, see full disclosure here. I’ve been asked recently, what is Home of the Roses?! Well, it’s actually a who, not a what. Where did I get the name from? Do you live in a house full of roses?! Well kind of. 😉 I am a graphic designer, turned Mama, turned blogger! While I have only been blogging for about 6 months I created my blog in 2018. I no longer do graphic design…well professionally. I retired! 😉 So I knew I needed some type of creative outlet. I started with a few blog posts and opened all the social media accounts. But I just didn’t have the time to dedicate to it then. My daughter was still in preschool and I was working part time. Believe it or not it’s an insane amount of work and very time consuming. In fall of 2020, my baby started kindergarten (insert loud obnoxious sobs). So I became a first time empty nester. As much as I enjoyed the “me” time I missed my bestie SO much. My daughter, Lillian and I are very close. We’ve been besties from birth. Her favorite holidays are Mother’s Day and Christmas. […]

Back-to-School Blessings: How Can I Pray for You?

This page may contain affiliate links, see full disclosure here. Hello hello!! Welp it’s hard to believe the summer is coming to an end. For my kiddos at least. They are just days away from starting school. It is truly insane how fast time goes by. I will say we have had the most fun summer. Very mild in terms of heat so that is always a plus! We did a ton of “living our best life” from camping in Turner Falls with Mimi to vacationing in our favorite spot, Broken Bow. Mix that in with tons and tons of swimming, bike riding, scooter riding and roller blading! We are going to finish it up at the Gaylord this weekend. Our last hurray before school starts! As a Mama, my favorite part is just getting to sleep in and no schedule! 🙂 This past week as I was getting all the last minute things done for the new school year it got me thinking and reflecting about last year. I don’t think we give our kids enough credit for not only making it through but thriving in the strangest situation they might ever face. I had to watch from a […]

I know most traditional bread pudding consist of bread and raisins. This is my version made with chocolate chips and croissants. It’s so buttery and sweet but not too sweet. I love to serve it with ice cream. But just as heavenly on it’s own. Alright let’s get started. Go ahead and preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Using a mixer, add your butter and sugar and mix until well blended. Add the cinnamon, and vanilla. Mix until all combined. With the mixer going, crack your 5 eggs one at a time into the mixture. This post makes me very happy. After eight years of living in my current home I finally decided to give my master bedroom a makeover. And I am LOVING it! Feels so fresh and grown up. I don’t know why it took me this long! I had planned on “revamping” my bedroom a while back – nothing crazy, maybe some new bedding, shams, etc. But then I had this grand idea to move my treadmill out of my bedroom and upstairs to my office. Yes, my giant treadmill takes about 1/3 of the space in the room. However, I did not realize it weighed like a trillion pounds. It took four men to carry it up the stairs!! Thank you hubby and strong men in my neighborhood. Literally THE best decision ever! I know, I know what you are thinking…duh!! 😉 So now there is a large empty space just waiting to […]

I was immediately intrigued and starting researching and testing. Come to find out there are so many benefits to icing your face! Lucky for you, I have put some of these techniques to the test.
