We Bought Land! Now What?!

Hello my friends! It has been awhile. Needless to say I have been busy! We have had a lot of life changing things happen in our family. Starting with selling our home that we lived in for 8 years! Summer of 2022, as I was driving away from my Mom’s house, I had this grand idea to sell our house. We’ve been wanting to move for years but it just never seemed like the right time. I mean is it ever?! So this brings us to, we bought land and now what?! But with a whole lot of craziness mixed in! Y’all remember the crazy housing market in 2022?! Even if you weren’t selling or buying you remember. Houses were going for $60K over asking, selling within 2 days and so on! I remember dropping my kids off at my Mom’s house and pulling out of the drive and having this overwhelming feeling that we should sell our house! Call it crazy, call it God’s voice, whatever it was my brain just went wild with ALL the ideas! By the time I made it home I was dead set, 100% all in, no looking back! However, there was that “little” […]

Who is Home of the Roses? Meet my Inspiration.

This page may contain affiliate links, see full disclosure here. I’ve been asked recently, what is Home of the Roses?! Well, it’s actually a who, not a what. Where did I get the name from? Do you live in a house full of roses?! Well kind of. 😉 I am a graphic designer, turned Mama, turned blogger! While I have only been blogging for about 6 months I created my blog in 2018. I no longer do graphic design…well professionally. I retired! 😉 So I knew I needed some type of creative outlet. I started with a few blog posts and opened all the social media accounts. But I just didn’t have the time to dedicate to it then. My daughter was still in preschool and I was working part time. Believe it or not it’s an insane amount of work and very time consuming. In fall of 2020, my baby started kindergarten (insert loud obnoxious sobs). So I became a first time empty nester. As much as I enjoyed the “me” time I missed my bestie SO much. My daughter, Lillian and I are very close. We’ve been besties from birth. Her favorite holidays are Mother’s Day and Christmas. […]

My Appendectomy Story

For most of us 2020 was a real doozy of a year. So many things happened or should I say didn’t happen. For the first time in my life I really struggled with my health. I have always had a bit of a wonky tummy so in the beginning of this journey I didn’t think too much about it. I remember it was the first weekend we had been out of the house since quarantine started in March. It was May and my kiddos last day of school. My amazing Mom had a graduation for them in her backyard. Along with their cousins and “teachers” AKA my sister and me! We got awards, flowers and crowns. All together we did it! Survived the first round of home school. The next day we went out to lunch, first time out and about. It was truly great! I also had my very first hair appointment. Keep in mind I am blonde. NOT the best year to be a blonde! Let’s just say I took the ombré look to a whole new level! My appointment was on that Sunday. I was SOOO excited, literally counting down the seconds. Well I woke that morning […]

How a Five Minute Procedure Changed My Life – My Endometrial Ablation.

endometrial ablation

I rarely ever, actually this is my first time to share a personally story. With it being March, which is a very personally month for me. My first child, my son was born. My oldest sister and her beautiful daughter both have birthdays in March and I also met my husband – our St. Patty’s Day romance. Will have to share another time! 😉 So I am taking this moment to share something personal with you and how a five minute procedure changed my life! My endometrial ablation story. I started my period when I was 12 years old. I was in sixth grade and I remember the morning vividly. We were about to leave for school and I yelled out to my Mom “I think I just started my period” and in that moment my life was forever changed. Right from the beginning I suffered every month. To the point it was debilitating some days. Luckily my very gracious Mother understood and would let me skip school if need be. Needless to say it effected my life in every way. Once I got older I did get on the birth control pill. Which did help tremendously. It helped shorten […]
